OBITUARY: Gertha J. French, 92, beloved sister, mother, and grandmother, departed from her earthly body to join the Lord Jesus in her Heavenly home Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Landmark Apostolic Church with the Rev. Johnny Holley and Jason Michael Hood officiating. Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home will make burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Ms. French entered into this world Sept. 21, 1907, in Lamar County. She was the daughter of Hurly Jones and Georgie Payne Jones. She is survived by one sister, Vesta Jackson of Tyler; three daughters, eldest surviving Mildred Ausmus of Paris, second eldest surviving Roberta McHam, and youngest surviving Ann Miller of Paris; one son, John E. French of Paris; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, Hurly and Georgie Payne Jones; one half-sister, Blanch Free of Paris; one sister, Eather Strictland of Dallas; two brothers, T. W. Jones of Paris and B. L. Jones of Paris; two daughters, Gertrude Massengale of Fort Worth and Linda Sue Tucker of Tyler.' (THE PARIS NEWS, Thursday, October 28, 1999, page 4B)
