Daughter of Walter and Beaty (Rosno) Czapla. She graduated from Genoa High School. She then attended St. Paul Business College for six months. Rose married Robert Pilakowski Nov. 21, 1939. They farmed and raised their 11 children in the Genoa area. Rose held jobs at the Golden Rule Creamery, Dales, and Loup Power District throughout her life. She retired from Loup Power District in 1986. Her husband Robert passed away in 1996 and Rose moved from the farm to live in Genoa in 1997. She was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Church and also the St. Rose Altar Society. She loved to spend time with her family, garden, crochet, and quilt. Rose is survived by daughters, Phyllis (Nelson) Mullet of Wheatridge, Colo., Joyce (Wayne) Kruse of Fort Collins, Colo., Carol Gdowski of Fremont, Mary (Charles) Wright of Columbus, Gerri Swanson and Betty (Dan) Shanle of Genoa; sons, Rich (Kathy) of Kearney, Ray (Michelene) and Larry (Anne) of Columbus, Kenny (Cyndy) and Walt of Genoa; Rose is also survived by two sisters, Lily Krzycki of Columbus, Frances Christiansen of Fresno, Calif.; and two brothers, Clarence and Frank Czapla of Genoa. Rose's family was blessed with 41 grandchildren (two deceased), 51 great-grandchildren (one deceased), and one great-great grandchild.
