Died, at the home of her daughter in Iowa, Monday, November 8th, 1892, Mrs. Harriett McCashland. She was born in Culpepper county, Va., January 25, 1812, and the time of her death she was 81 years, 9 months and 11 days old. She removed from Virginia in early life and settled in Wayne county, Indiana. From Indiana she removed to LIvingstone county, Illinois, and from there she came with her family to Nebraska in 1873, settling on the farm now the home of her son, J.R. McCashland. Here she lived with her husband until 1889, when Father McCashland died, leaving the aged mother alone. Mrs. McCashland was the mother of eleven children, all of whom lived to be grown. Of these, two sons and three daughters preceded her to the other side; four sons and two daughters remaining to mourn her loss. One of her sons fell in defense of his country at Peach Tree Creek, and was buried at Marietta, Ga. Mrs. McCashland was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church for almost a half century. Her whole life was one of consistent waiting before God. She reflected the image of Christ to all about her by a sweet, beautiful Christian character. The declaration of all who knew her is "A saint has fallen." The body was brought to Fairmont and the funeral was preached Friday morning in the M.E. Church by the pastor, Rev. A. A. Randall.
