Services for Werdna Rhea Busby, 77, of Lubbock will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, at Southcrest Baptist Church with Dr. David Wilson officiating and the Rev. Truman Johnson assisting. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock. The family will receive friends from 6:30 - 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Rhea passed away Monday, Sept. 5, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born July 11, 1928 in New Home to the late William and Carrie (Stroud) Robinson. Rhea graduated from New Home High School in 1946. She married E.J. Haymes Sept. 20, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1991. She married Leroy Busby July 9, 1993 in Lubbock. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to taking care of her family. She was a charter member of Southcrest Baptist Church, and taught Sunday school in the youth department. After her children were grown and after her husband's retirement, she enjoyed traveling. She also loved cooking for friends and family. She is preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers. Rhea is survived by her husband, Leroy Busby of Lubbock; three children, Cookie McKinstry and husband Mike of Beaumont, Jan Johnson and husband Truman of Baird, and Brad Haymes and wife Candy of Lubbock; four step-children, Johnana Busby of Lubbock, Susie Franklin of Lubbock, Mark Busby of Colorado City, and Roy Lee Busby of Lubbock; a sister, Deanie Ehlo of Lubbock; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family suggests memorials to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch.
