GUIDE ROCK - - Albert (Pete) Payne, 79, of Guide Rock died Tuesday, Sep 3, 1991, at the Franklin Nursing Home in Franklin. Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at the Simonson-Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud with the Rev Marvin Palmer officiating. Burial will be in the Guide Rock Cemetery at Guide Rock. Mr Payne was born Oct 14, 1911, on the family farm five miles northwest of Guide Rock in Webster County. He attended rural District No 36 school and Guide Rock High School. He farmed with his father. He married Dora Elizabeth Sholtz Feb 26, 1930 at Mankato, Kansas. In 1934 they moved into Guide Rock where he worked for the WPA and then later for Booker's Garage as a mechanic. He then operated Payne Repair at Guide Rock until his retirement in 1984. Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Darlene Yung of Warrensburg, Mo., one son Ronald of Glen Elder, Kansas; one sister Velma Wilson of Superior; five grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
