Son of Francis Everett Amsberry of Mason County, West Virginia and Lucy Caroline Beard of Lynchburg, Bedford County, Virginia . Husband of Olive Myrtle Williams of Mason Township, Effingham County, Illinois; married on 24 December 1896 in York, York County, Nebraska. Francis Adam Amsberry was a newspaper editor and mail carrier. He established the first telephone company at Mason City, Custer County, Nebraska. His other business interests were farming, hardware, produce and a feed store. He was also a Republican candidate for Nebraska Secretary of State in 1928.
