Bio

Married March 29, 1941 ----------------- Thomas Marion Clawson, Monroe City, formerly of Moberly, died at 9:15 p.m. Monday in the emergency room of Phelps County Hospital in Rolla. Mr. Clawson was employed as a grain auditor for the State Department of Agriculture and became ill while working in Rolla. He had been treated for a heart condition. Born in Moberly on July 9, 1920, he was a son of Arthur Virgil Clawson and Orpha Lee Noel Clawson. He and his father operated and owned the former Clawson Hatchery in Moberly a number of years ago. He attended Moberly High School, Moberly Junior College. Mr. Clawson was a member of the Monroe City Baptist Church, Lions Club, the Masonic Lodge and the Monroe County Democratic Club. Surviving are his wife, the former Martha Sue Hackett, whom he married March 29, 1941, in Sedalia; two daughters, Mrs. Rudy (Nancy) Meyer, Mexico, and Carole Ellis, Columbia; one brother, B. R. Clawson, Moberly and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Monroe City Baptist Church with Rev. J. D. Stuart in charge. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery at Moberly. The body is at Garner Funeral Home in Monroe City. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday. The family suggests memorials to the Heart Fund.
