Howard Frederick Odom, 89, of Clifton, Texas, passed away Friday, June 11, 2010, in Clifton. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 14, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Chapel in Whitney. Burial will follow at Prairie Valley Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 13, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Home in Whitney. Howard was born in Aquilla, Texas, to the late Fred and Annie Matthews Odom. He owned and operated a service station in Whitney for 34 years. He served on the Whitney Hospital Board as a member, serving one term as president; a member of the Whitney Lions Club for 35 years; a member of Whitney Riders' Club; the Whitney VFW; served two terms on the Whitney City Council; and a member of the Whitney Federal Housing Board. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, entering on Aug. 18, 1944. He served as a Sergeant with the 382nd Infantry, 96th Division, in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater from February 1945 to February 1946, and received several medals and citations. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita; his sister, Lucille Arnold; brothers, Maurice, Gene, Billy, and infant, Dickie Odom. He is survived by daughter, Sandra Odom Crank and husband, Edwin, of Jacksonville, Texas; son, Freddie Odom and wife Betty, of Clifton; six grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Dathan Drake, Audine Loftin, and Pauline Anderson, all of Ft.
