OLGA (OLLIE) JOSEPHINE HALATA POHL Hallettsville New Era Herald, 1966 Mrs. Alfred Pohl Funeral services for Mrs. Alfred (Ollie) Pohl of Route 2, Hallettsville were held Monday, August 22, 1966, beginning at the Kubena Funeral Home at 9 a.m. and continuing at the Moravia Catholic Church at 9:30. The Rev. William Halata brother of the deceased officiated at the Funeral High Mass and the Rev. Edward Bartsch delivered the sermon. Msgr. Alois J. Morkovsky and the Rev. John Orr also assisted. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Hallettsville. A member of the Moravia Catholic Church and Altar Society, Mrs. Pohl was born in Fayette County on August 15, 1920, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe J. Halata. She died in the M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston at 11:45 p.m. Friday, August 19, 1966 at the age of 46 years. She had been employed at the Hallettsville Ben Franklin Store until about six weeks before her passing. On November 4, 1940, she was united in marriage to Alfred Pohl at Moravia and to this union were born four children, all of whom survive: a son, Robert Pohl of Karnes City; and three daughters, Betty Lois Pohl of Houston, Cathy and Janice Pohl, both at home. Also surviving are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe J. Halata of Moravia; two brothers, Rev. William Halata of Schulenburg, Bernard Halata of Houston; three sisters, Mrs. Edwin Anders of Weimar, Mrs. Charles Sooter of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Marvin Novak of Houston and two grandchildren. A rosary was recited at the funeral home Sunday night at 7:30 by the parish. Serving as pallbearers were Frank Gebauer, Thomas Janak, Charlie Halata Jr., A. E. Buss, Paul Neiser, Gilbert Schindler, Vladik Pesek and Henry Olsovsky.
