HALLETTSVILLE -- The Rev. William Halata, 84, of Hallettsville, died Sunday, June 11, 2000. He was born Jan. 12, 1916, in Swiss Alp, Texas, to the late Joseph and Aloysia Olsovsky Halata. He was a priest and served at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg, Hostyn Catholic Church in Hostyn and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Survivors: sisters, Leona Scooter of Los Angeles, Calif., and Bernice Novak of Pearland. Preceded in death by: parents; two sisters and one brother. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home in Schulenburg. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. today at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg. American Legion Memorial Services will be 7:30 p.m. today at the church. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Tim Kosler officiating.
