Bio

Mrs. Shadie Sloan Burroughs, 78, of Arkadelphia, widow of Max Burroughs, died Wednesday. She was the daughter of Edward Sampson Sloan and Lucy Lavina Finley Sloan. Mrs. Burroughs was a Methodist. On January 20, 1969 she married Otis W. Fulton. After the marriage ended in divorce in November 1974, she took back the last name of her deceased husband. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gloria Billings of Torrance, California; six sisters, Mrs. Georgia Webb of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Mrs. Oleta Broyles of Cumby, Texas, Mrs. Esther Close of Kilgore, Texas, and Mrs. Gertrude Hood, Mrs. Lottie Adams and Mrs. Jodie Denton, all of Sulfur Springs, Texas; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bismarck United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Bismarck Cemetery by Murry-Ruggles Funeral Home.
