Bio

Pastor Dean Wesley Baker 75 0f Elkins went home to be with his Lord on Friday June 4,2010. He was born September 4th.1934 in Patrick, Ark. to Tom Baker and Annie Roxy Prater Baker. Dean was a long time resident of Elkins, AR. He loved to work and stayed busy at it as often as he could. He served in the US Army during the Korean War in the mid 1950's overseas. On April 17th, 1958, Dean was married to the love of his life Geneva Lucille Skelton in Elkins, AR by the Rev. Noah Robbins. He owned and operated 4-B Construction for many years, and worked most of his life as a contractor. Many homes and businesses in the Northwest Arkansas area have Dean's personal touch and personality. Dean began preaching the Gospel in the mid 1960's and continued preaching, evangelizing, and pastoring throughout the remainder of his life. Dean began pastoring ‘New Vision Church of God' in Springdale, AR in 1998, and remained pastor there until his death. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons; Wesley Wayne Baker, Leonard Ray Steward, one sister: Anna Marie Nekica, three brothers: Ronnie Gene Baker, George Baker and Sherman Lee Baker. He leaves behind his wife Geneva of the home, son; Thaddeus Theodore Baker and wife Barbara of Elkins, two daughters; Tamra Jean Warford and husband Terry of Fayetteville, daughter Teresa Marie Steward and husband Lenny of Delaney, eight grandchildren: Casey Warford, LeAnn Skelton, Misty Baker, James Warford, Stacie Chatfield, Shana Foshe, Stephanie Wilkerson, Paul Steward, thirteen great-grandchildren: Wesley Wayne Warford, Whitney LeAnn Warford, Joseph Ray Steward, Joshua Kelly Leonard Steward, Joseph Grant Skelton, Andrew Dwayne Skelton, Jerin Dale Warford, Grace Lynn Henson, Waylan David Henson, Peyton Lee Ray Chatfield, Aiden Wayne Foshe, Baby Foshe and Baby Wilkerson, four brothers; Roy Don Baker, Dave Wilburn Baker, Doyle Howard Baker, John Henry Baker, six sisters; Shirley Lorene Sweetser, Julia Bell Pelley, Thelma Lou Frye, Bessie Ruth Williams, Arleta Baker, Betty Sue Blaire, and a host of many other friends, family, and loved ones. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Monday at New Vision Church of God in Springdale. Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 pm Sunday at Moore's Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Casey Warford and Johnny Foshe. Burial will be at McCord Cemetery near Elkins.
