Bio

A prolonged illness of several years closed Wednesday when death brought relief to the tired body of Jim E. Kurtz. He was born in the adjacent county of Fayette three score years ago. Nearly all of his life had been spent in this vicinity. His wife who survives him was the former Miss Magdalen Janda to whom he was married about 36 years ago. Three children were born to this union and all survive. They are: Mrs. Jaro Ulcak, Hallettsville; Jerry Kurtz and Mrs. Johnnie Dierschke, Moulton; also six grandchildren. Four brothers and two sisters are grieved over his passing, his twin, Fran, Moulton; Jake and Albert of Henkhaus, Chas. Kurtz, Mrs. Steve Michalec, Shiner; Mrs. O.E. Kubenka, Komensky. Funeral rites were held from the family home and from the Shiner Catholic Church, Friday morning at 9:30, with burial in the Catholic Cemetery, Msgr. A. Drozd of San Antonio officiating. Pallbearers were Louis Stanek, James Michalec, Edwin, Herman, Albert Jr. and Chas. Kurtz Jr. A kind husband, indulgent father, agreeable neighbor and faithful member of the Catholic Church has answered the summons of his Creator. The Gazette extends sincere sympathy to all in their sorrow. Shiner Gazette, Shiner, Texas, Thursday, October 25, 1945
