Topeka State Journal Mon. 21 June, 1971, pg. 14: HORTON--Services will be Tuesday at St. Leo's Catholic Church here for Mrs. Maude I. Schuetz, 83, Horton, who died Saturday (June 19) at the Brown County Infirmary southwest of Hiawatha where she had been about 3 1/2 months. She was born Feb. 22, 1888 at Powhattan and spent most of her life in the Horton community. She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church at Horton and the Altar Society at the church. She was married to J. Peter Schuetz. He died March 26, 1968. Survivors include 4 sons, Donald G. Schuetz and James Schuetz, both of Horton, Vernon Schuetz, Hiawatha, and Charles Schuetz, Axtell, NE.; 4 daughters, Mrs. Lila Willich, Salem, OR., Mrs. Mabel Schuetz, Route 2, Horton, Mrs. Marcella Craig, Horton, and Mrs. Helen Sheldon, Kearney, NE.; a sister, Mrs. Mabel Williams, Seal Beach, CA.; 34 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery at Mercier. Chaney Mortuary is in charge.
