Mabel Catherine Schuetz (August 7, 1914 - July 3, 2006) Mabel Catherine Schuetz, 91, of rural Horton, Kansas, went to her reward on July 3, 2006, at the Oak Ridge Acres Nursing Center in Hiawatha, Kansas. Mabel was born on August 7, 1914, the daughter of Peter & Maude Swisher Schuetz. She graduated from the Powhattan High School. On May 8, 1934 she married Earl J. Schuetz in Holton, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 15, 1970. Mabel was a homemaker and helped her husband on the family farm. She was a member of the St. Leo's Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Mabel enjoyed gardening, painting and mowing. Survivors include, son, David & wife Sharon Schuetz of Horton, Kansas, three daughters, Joan & husband Neal Lehew, of Horton, Kansas, Mary & husband Bill Halda of Springhill, Kansas and Annette & husband Larry Rogers of Horton, Kansas, brother, Jim Schuetz of Horton, Kansas, daughter-in-law, Linda Schuetz of Horton, Kansas, thirteen grandchildren and twenty eight great grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a two sons, Eugene and Ronald Schuetz, grandson, Anthony Halda, great grandson, Andrew Sommers, five brothers, Donald, Vernon "Dutch", Charlie, Leo & Dale Schuetz, four sisters, Helen Sheldon, Lila Willich, Marcella Craig and Donna Schuetz. Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2006 at the St. Leo's Catholic Church in Horton, Kansas. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas were the family will greet friends following the rosary. Burial will be in the St. Peter's Cemetery, Mercier, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the Mabel Schuetz memorial fund to be designated later and may be sent in care of Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary, 909 Central Ave., Horton, Kansas 66439.
