Crawford County Democrat Friday 13 September 1946 Obit:Wood, Martha AnnaDied September 6, 1946, Crawford County, Indiana. Martha Anna Wood, daughter of Abraham and Catherine Kemp, was bornnear Alton, February 22, 1871, and died September 6, 1946, at the age of 75 years, 6 months and 8 days. Her entire life was spent in Crawford County. She was married to Benton Wood on July 21, 1897. To this union threechildren were born, Robbie Parr, of Riddle; Harry, of Milltown, and Alma, who died in childhood. One step-son, Charles F. Wood, died two years ago. For several years her health was poor and she was confined to her roomfor the last 6 years. Through all her suffering she appreciated the kindness and friendship shown her. Many times she expressed her willingness to die and her hope of meeting those who have died. Her husband preceded her in death 16 years ago. Besides the son and daughter, she is survived by 8 grandchildren: Tom Wood, of Passaic, N.J., Charles Wood, of Alton: Ruth Rufener and James Wood, of Dayton, O.; Martha Bowman and James Parr, of Riddle; Mildred Parr, of New Albany, and Janice Wood, of Milltown; two great grandsons, Eldon Bowman and Thomas Charles Wood; one brother, Floyd Kemp, of New Albany, and many nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Dillman church. Funeral services were held at the new cemetery near Alton Sundayafternoon. The Rev Mr Waggoner officiated
