Martin Olson was born in Millville, the son of Ola and Elna Jonson Olson. He attended school in the old rock school building. His father served two missions during Martin's youth; and he and his brother, George, had the responsibility of the farm. On January 22, 1890, he married Louisa Francis Jessop, the daughter of Richard and Mary Ellen Jessop. She was born April 29, 1871, in Millville. Martin served a mission to Sweden from 1894-1896, leaving Francis with two children. He also served two home missions, was President of the Seventies Quorum, President of the YMMIA, Ward Clerk and a Sunday School Teacher for twenty-eight years. His civic activities included being Mayor of Millville, Justice of the Peace, County Assessor, Director of Millville Water Works, Secretary of Millville Stock and Agriculture Association and Manager of South Cache Milling Company. He was a kind and loving husband and father and a loyal friend. Martin and Francis were the parents of; Martin Ervin, Earl Delore, Nora Lavere, Letha Orlege, Ronald LaVoide, Richard, Loyal, Cleo, Kenneth, Marguerite and Lund.
