Bio

Earl Delore Olson was a Millville native, the son of Martin and Louisa Francis Jessop Olson. He attended local schools and Brigham Young College in Logan, and he enjoyed playing baseball and basketball. He worked on his father's farm and for other farmers in the area. He served a mission to Florida and Georgia from 1914-1916. On June 17, 1917, he married Leda Pearl Wiser in the Logan Temple. They bought a dry farm at Hawkins Basin, Idaho, where Earl served in the Sunday School and YMMIA, as well as being a Counselor in the Bishopric. Leda died during the flu epidemic on February 23, 1920. She is buried at the Lewiston City Cemetery in Lewiston, Utah. Earl married Alavon Smith in the fall of 1920. He worked on the railroad at Lava Hot Springs and did farm work at Twin Falls, Idaho, until 1929, when Alavon died and he returned to Millville with his six children. His parents helped care for the children until Earl remarried. In 1935, he married Evelyn Harris in the Logan Temple. They made their home in Millville for a few years before moving to Smithfield and later to Ogden, where Earl was employed at Second Street and at Fuller Toponce Truck Lines. Evelyn was killed in an airplane crash November 12, 1965. Earl remained in Ogden until a short time before his death when he lived with his son, Neil, at Murray, Utah. Earl and Leda were the parents of one son, Neil. Children of Earl and Alavon are: Viola, Roma, Donna, Rhoda, Dean and Leeta. Earl and Evelyn also raised Evelyn's three daughters from a previous marriage: Deva, Sadie Belle and Evelyn.
