Bio
A former resident of Happy, Panhandle and Amarillo, Miss Opal Laura Hutson, 59, of South Gate, Calif., died Monday in South Gate. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lee Hutson of Panhandle. Miss Hutson came to the Texas Panhandle in 1919 with her parents when they moved to Happy. She later lived in Panhandle and in Amarillo from 1943 to 1949, when she moved to California with her mother. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of South Gate. Among survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Leota Davis of South Gate, Mrs. Lora Burks of Roy, N.M., and Mrs. Mabel Bailey of 2200 S. Bowie. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors of Amarillo. Dr. W. Winfred Moore, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Panhandle Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donald Davis, Jerry Davis, V.B. Covey, R.E. Harris, George Harris and Claude Freeman. Miss Hutson moved to Happy in 1919. She later lived in Panhandle and in Amarillo before moving to California. Survivors include three sisters.
