Martina Arnhold, 88, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Hays Good Samaritan Center. She was born April 15, 1912, in Catherine, to Melchior and Maria (Staab) Wolf. She married Lawrence Arnhold on June 16, 1931, in Hays. She worked for 19 years at the Memorial Union at Fort Hays State University and farmed with her husband. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Eagles Auxiliary, Altar Society Christian Mothers, and a 50-year member of the Daughters of Isabella. Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son, Allen, Hays; two daughters, Rose Rincon, Hays, and Valda Neely, Arvada, Colo.; a sister, Clara Zimmerman, Hays; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Hines, three brothers; Alois Wolf, Alphonse Wolf, and Henry Wolf, six sisters; Agatha Hayton, Agnes Leiker, Anna Bunker, Rose Schmeidler, Emma Schmeidler, and Sister Solona Wolf, and two grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fathers Mike Scully and Paulinus Karlin officiating; burial in the church cemetery. An Altar Society Christian Mothers rosary will be at 4 p.m. Sunday followed by an Eagles Auxiliary service at 4:30 with a Daughters of Isabella rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Hays Good Samaritan Center or to Masses.
