Bio

Erma Lala Willis passed away October 1, 1983, at the age of 79. She has been a resident of the Rush County Nursing Home the past five years. She was born March 26, 1904, near Woodston, Kansas, in Ash Rock Township. When she was 11 years old, they moved to Kirwin. She taught school several years before marrying Alfred Willis on May 17, 1930. Alfred died May 9, 1967. She is survived by a son, Richard Willis and wife, Virginia of Phillipsburg; two daughters, Maryellen Boland husband Jerry of Alton; Leonore House and husband, Dight, of McCracken. Grandchildren are Jason Willis, Roger, Rodney (wife Jody), and Kathleen Boland, Martha, Thomas and Jennifer House. She also had a great-granddaughter, Skilar Boland, a brother, Wilbur Lala and wife Lona of Smith Center, and a sister, Wilma Ehrlich and husband Egon of Hays. Memorial services were held Tuesday, October 4 at 2 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Darrel Rundus officiating. Mary and Darrel Rundus sang special music accompanied by Mary Kincaid. Casket bearers were Larry Lala, Lovell Elliott, William Jones, Jerry Nedrow, Leland Rahjes and Leonard Rahjes. Interment was in the Kirwin Cemetery.
