F.J.R. Grossman Dies In a Waco Sanitarium The death of F.J.R. Grossman, prominent farmer of near West, was a shock to the entire community. He passed away at 12:10 p.m. on Monday, July 4th, at the Lemly Hospital in Waco. He had been suddenly taken ill on Wednesday, June 29th, and was taken from his home to Waco. His condition showed improvement and hope was held for his recovery, but he became worse on Monday and within a few minutes he was dead. Deceased was born on Aug. 13, 1880, in Czechoslovakia, and was brought to America when he was only six months of age. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Grossman, settled near West as one of the pioneer families of this region. In the fall of 1900, Mr. Grossman took as his wife Miss Frances Skarpa, a union to which six children were born. Deceased was a successful farmer of the Tokio community for the past 21 years, and was known to his many friends as "the Keystone of the Community." Mr. Grossman was a member of the C.M.B. Church of West, being a loyal worker and active member. His many kind deeds for his church will always be remembered by his fellow church members. He has many friends who mourn his death, and the community has suffered the loss of a loyal citizen. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, July 5th, at the home at 2 p.m., Rev. F. J. Kostohryz and Rev. Jos. Hegar of Temple officiating. At the church, Rev. Kostohryz spoke in the Czech language and Rev. Hegar in English. Interment was at the C. M.B. Cemetery.
