Bio

Susan Higdon, the eldest child of Sarah Jane "Sally" (née Morgan) and Benjamin D. Higdon, was born in 1812 in Bullitt County, Kentucky, where her parents were married the previous year. Susan Higdon and James Nichelson were married around 1830, probably in Ohio. Charles, the first of their 11 known children, was born in 1831 in Hamilton County. Seven more children were born in Hamilton County, where the family was enumerated in 1850. Two children, in 1851 and 1854, were born in Franklin County, Indiana; and the last child was born in 1858 in Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana.
