Bio

Daughter of Elmer Walson Wheeler and his wife, Hazel Florence Tarr. Ruth married Roger William Rule on 23 October 1942 in Monmouth. She married Glenn Hopkins in Monmouth on 3 August 1946. He preceded her in death on 26 September 1982. Ruth worked for about 10 years as a waitress at the Town Cafe in Biggsville. She was a member of the Four Square Gospel Church in Galesburg. Survivors include three sons, Thomas Hopkins of Oquawka, Ill., Mike Hopkins of Gladstone, Ill., and Dave Hopkins of Macomb, Ill.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Florence Jensen of Alexis, Ill., and Dorothy Carrier of Monmouth, Ill. [NOTE - The husbands of sisters Ruth and Dorothy Wheeler, Glenn Hopkins and Kenneth Carrier, respectively, were 3rd cousins once removed, through their common ancestors, Henry and Mary Nicholas Carrier, of Shenandoah county, Virginia.]
