Bio

Dorothy M. "Dottie" Carrier, 82, Macomb, formerly of Monmouth, died Friday (May 4, 2007) in Wesley Village. She was born March 7, 1925, in Monmouth, the daughter of Elmer Walson Wheeler and his wife, Hazel Florence Tarr. She married Kenneth L. Carrier on March 17, 1945, in Kansas City, Mo. He died June 3, 1992. Surviving are four daughters, Julie Glasgow, Alanson, Mich., Pam Jones and Tammy (and Jimmy) Halcomb, both of Monmouth, and Kimberly Hastings, Oquawka; three sons, Rick (and Jennifer) and Terry (and Kim) Carrier, both of Monmouth, and Kendall (and Julie) Carrier, Davenport, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Jo; a son, Steven; and two sisters, Florence and Ruth. She was reared and educated in Monmouth. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Monmouth. She was a member of Monmouth Country Club and enjoyed golf, playing cards, dancing and big band music. She also played the organ. She also enjoyed art and ceramics, crafts and making family photo albums. [NOTE - The husbands of sisters Ruth and Dorothy Wheeler, Glenn Hopkins and Kenneth Carrier, respectively, were 3rd cousins once removed, through their common ancestors, Henry and Mary Nicholas Carrier, of Shenandoah county, Virginia.]
