William Clayton Corbitt had 3 wives and 23 children. The son of John H. Corbitt, W.C. was born in Alabama and moved to Texas about 1850. In 1845, Coosa County, Alabama he married Mary Kinney. They had 3 children: John H. Corbitt Twin 1 Corbitt Twin 2 Corbitt During the move to Texas Mary and the twins died. One story says they died of cholera, another says they drown crossing the Mississippi River. W.C.'s second wife was Martha "Patsy" Cassells. They probably married sometime between 1853 and 1855, between the birth of John and Sarah. Patsy died sometime after 1877. She is buried adjacent to daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Knight, in the old Hester Cemetery, just off the Perryville Road. The children of W.C. and Patsy are: Sarah E. Corbitt m George W. Davis Emmiline "Emma" (TWIN) Corbitt m Lafayette (aka John Lafit Johnson W.C.'s third wife was Susan Mae Cox. It is told that Patsy died on a Sunday and he married Susan the following Wednesday. At the time of Patsy's death there were several small children in the household and a replacement wife was needed right away.
