Dorothy's parents were Herschel Elry Edwards and Laura Hix. Dorothy married Melvin Hicks on 5 Oct 1935 in Bryan Co, OK. ∼ Services for Dorothy Hicks, 83, longtime resident of Hale Center, TX, were held Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Meacham officiating. Burial followed in the Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Freeman-Abell Funeral of Hale Center, TX. She died June 14, 2004 at Covenant Medical Hospital in Plainview, TX. She was born October 4, 1920 in Sherman, TX. She married Melvin Hicks on October 5, 1935 in Durant, OK. He preceded her in death November 20, 1994. She moved to Hale Center in 1948 from Sherman, TX. She had been a Christian since the age of 11 and was very active at the First Baptist Church where she served on various committees. She was a longtime member of the Friendship Club in Hale Center. Survivors include: a son, Bobby and his wife, Carolyn Hicks of Gruver, TX, one daughter, Linda and her husband, Roger Mahagan of Hale Center, TX, 2 sisters, Fern Haggard and Martha Davis of Lubbock, TX, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
