Bio

Betty Jo Record, 74, daughter of Glen and Etta Aletha Wood (Simpson), was born April 17, 1935, in Ada, Okla. She passed away March 8, 2010, at General Hospital in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Thelma Darter and Linda Victor; and four brothers, Clyde Wood, Dale Wood, Junior Wood and J.W. Wood. She is survived by her five sons; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother; five sisters. Betty grew up in Paul's Valley, Okla., where her grandfather owned a country store. She attended Paul's Valley High school and graduated on May 21, 1954. Betty moved to Texas and worked as a head cook at North Richland Junior High School and retired in that position. She moved to Missouri to be close to her relatives. She attended Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Houston, Mo. Betty loved to garden when she was able to. She liked to read books, embroidery and crocheting. She was an accomplished bowler and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Betty enjoyed the camping and fishing trips with her five boys. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 12, at Evans Funeral Home. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Houston, Mo., with the Rev. David Kettner officiating. Burial will be in the C.T. Smith Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Agape House. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.evansfh.com.
