FRANK VIDLAK NEWPORT NEWS - Col. Frank Joseph Vidlak, U.S. Army, retired, 83, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2003, at his home. He was born in Clarkson, Neb., and retired from the U.S. Army, Ft. Monroe, in 1972 with 32 years of service. He served in the Pacific during WWII, and was also a veteran of Korea and the Vietnam War. He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a degree in Military Science. He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church. Col. Vidlak was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Vidlak. He is survived by his three sons, Frank Vidlak of Omaha, Neb., Michael Vidlak of Newtown, Pa., and John Vidlak of Charlotte, N.C.; his daughter, Sandy Vidlak-Masura of Wilmington, N.C.; 11 granddaughters and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, at the Weymouth Funeral Home. A Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, at St. Jerome Catholic Church by the Rev. Joseph Majewski. A reception in the church hall will follow the service. Burial will take place at 3 p.m. on Aug. 26, in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
