Joseph H. Gilbreth DU 27 Jul 1970 Word has been received that Colonel Joseph H. Gilbreth, United States Army, retired, passed away recently in St. Petersburg, Fla. Of a massive coronary. His remains are interred in Arlington National Cemetery. Colonel Gilbreth, a native of Lawrenceburg, was the eldest son of the late Captain and Mrs. William J. Gilbreth. As a graduate of Lawrence County High School, he went on to the University of Tennessee where he graduated with high honors in the class of 1914. Colonel Gilbreth is survived by his widow; son, Joseph H. Gilbreth, Jr., a West Point graduate; three brothers, Fred Gilbreth, Lawrenceburg; F.R. Gilbreth and William E. Gilbreth, both of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one sister, Marie Gilbreth (Mrs. Vance L. Sailor), Nashville, Tenn. Source: The Democrat Union Lawrenceburg, Tennessee ----------------------------- Tennessee Alpha Charter Member Colonel Joseph Gilbreth, U.S. Army (Retired), 79, was a member of the Class of 1914 at the University of Tennessee, and initiated in to the TN Alpha chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon in MAR 1913 - the 8th brother initiated by the chapter. It's possible he was a member of the local fraternity, Phi Alpha Phi, that became TN Alpha. Brother Gilbreth is one of more than 250 SigEp Patriots laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
