Mrs. Wm. J. Gilbreth DU 14 Oct 1955 Mrs. Wm. J. Gilbreth, Widely Known Lady Dies At Home In City Mrs. Wm. J. Gilbreth, member of one of Lawrence's most distinguished families, died at her residence of North Military Avenue Friday of last week at the age of 86 years. Mrs. Gilbreth had been un unusually good health, considering her age, and was ill just a few days before her death. She was the widow of the late Capt. Wm. J. Gilbreth, one of Lawrence's eminent soldiers and citizens. Mrs. Gilbreth was a native of Maury County and a daughter of the late Wm. Overton and Mary Jane Hollingsworth Fleming. Prayers were said Sunday afternoon at Freemon Funeral Home in this city, followed by services at the Cumberland Presbyterian church of which she was one of the oldest members. The Rev. J.W. Stiles said the ceremony at both the church and the cemetery. Mrs. Gilbreth is survived by five sons and a daughter: Col. Joe Gilbreth of Florida; Flo and Fred, twin sons, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Lawrenceburg, respectively; Bill Gilbreth, Arlington, Virginia and J.M. Gilbreth of Los Angeles, Calif., and Dr. Marie Tefft, Nashville. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Alice Fleming McEwen, of Columbia, Tennessee. Freemon Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
