A daughter of Rutherford and Margaret (Polk) Petty, Nancy Petty married Lewis H. Swindell 30 Jan 1843 in Randolph Co., NC. The Muncie (IN) Morning Star, Tuesday, Dec 21, 1909 New Castle, Ind., Dec. 20--Mrs. Nancy H. Swindell, 85, is dead at the home of her son-in-law, John M. Cox, near Kennard. Mrs. Swindell was one of the best known of the county's pioneer women. The surviving children are: Mrs. John M. Cox, Mrs. Daniel Keck, Mrs. O. L. Rifner and J. A. Swindell, all of this county, and William and Robert Swindell of Nebraska.
