Son of Henry Frederick Walther Sr. and his wife, Elizabeth Wienold. Henry was suddenly taken ill with convulsions while at the Standard Oil station at Main street and Grand avenue, Decatur, at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, and died while enroute to the hospital by ambulance. His identity was later established through his car registration and other personal items found in his car. Cause of death was listed as "acute indigestion". His mother said he had a history of stomach trouble, and always kept medicine nearby. Henry was born in Pittsfield, and moved to Decatur with his family when he was about 5 years of age. He lived there until 1924, when he moved to Galesburg. He married Nadine Julia Ruck about 1921, but later divorced. He married Hazel Olive Ferrington in Monmouth on 1 March 1926. Henry worked as a projectionist in the Lincoln theater for 5 years before moving to Galesburg, and was a member of the Motion Picture Operators' Union. Henry was survived by his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Walther, of Decatur; his wife, Mrs. Hazel Walther, of Monmouth; 3 daughters, Betty Ann of Decatur, Margaret and Hazel of Monmouth; a sister, Mrs. Leo Yancy, of Springfield; and a foster brother, William Eisert, of Springfield. His funeral was held 10:30 a.m., 8 July 1931, at the home of Mrs. Catherine (William) Reicks [Henry's first cousin], 1036 North Rutlege avenue, Springfield. The funeral party left the Moran & Sons chapel in Decatur at 9 a.m. for Springfield.
