Freddy Lynn Nutt was born on July 4, 1944, in Frost to Jewel and James S. Nutt and went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, in Farmers Branch at the age of 65. He is survived by his loving daughter, Brandy Michelle Nutt of Dallas; a son, James T. Nutt of Dallas; two sisters, Edna Kelly and Glenda Vandygriff, both of Farmers Branch; and a brother-in-law, Thomas N. Davis of Rice. Fred is also survived by Brandy and James' mother, Carolyn Sawyer of Palestine. Other survivors include five nephews, David Kelly and wife Linda, Larry Kelly and wife Jo, Danny Davis and wife Brenda, Glen Davis and wife Barbara, and Phillip Davis; and one niece, Kimberly Henderson. He also had a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. Freddy was also blessed with many close friends to the family and extended church family. Freddy graduated from Corsicana High School in 1962 and continued his education in business and accounting at Rutherford Business College in Dallas. After that point he served in the United States Armed Forces. During this time in the Army, he met many soldiers he kept in touch with as friends for life. He spoke often of the places he got to visit, one of his favorite being Germany. After coming home from the Army, Freddy lived in Corsicana and worked for Stewart Motor Company for 10 years. He was also elected Navarro County tax assessor collector. He moved to Dallas several years later and lived with his daughter. Freddy loved horses and dogs especially one horse, Sugarboy, and dog Reggie. He was a member of the Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church and played the piano for the church. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother and father, Jewel and James S. Nutt; and a sister, Sonda Davis. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, with Brother Rufus Nutt officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brandon Brown, Phillip Davis, Steven Davis, David Kelly, and Larry Kelly. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Kane Brown and Otis Dunagan.
