OBITUARY-THE LEON JOURNAL REPORTERSEPTEMBER 4, 1930 H.O. WILSON Harvey Osborn Wilson, son of Daniel and Lucy (Samson) Wilson, was born in New London, Indiana, on January 5, 1849. When only seven years of age, his parents moved to Wappello county, Iowa, and settled on a farm near Ottumwa, where he grew to manhood. When the Civil War demanded men for the service, Harve enlisted and served in the 7th Iowa Infantry during the last year of the war and was mustered out at Keokuk at the close.In 1872, the Wilson family moved to Decatur county and purchased a farm west of Van Wert, but harve did not come to Van Wert unitl a few years later. He taught school in Wappello, Clarke and Decatur counties, but later in life changed his occupation to real estate and insurance; this business his discontinued only a few years ago when his health failed. For over thirty years he was an intense sufferer from neuralgia that made his life most miserable. On Saturday morning, August 29, he quietly passed from this life to that beyond, at the age of 81 years 7 months, and 25 days.Besides being a member of the M.E. Church at Van Wert, he was a member of the I.O.O.F. and is believed to be the last member of the Van Wert G.A.R. Post to answer the call. He leaves to mourn his departure one brother, A.B. Wilson of Van Wert, and one sister, Mrs. Ina Starr of Osceola, besides many more distant relatives and friends. Other relatives in attendance at the funeral besides the brother and sister were, Mrs. A.B. Wilson of Van Wert, John Starr, Mr. and Mrs. Walter West and son from Osceola. Mrs. Ina Wilson and daughter of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. O.C. Christensen of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. I.B. Thompson of Centerville and Mrs. J.N. Painter of Pleasanton.
