Bio

Benton Thomas Nulph, 87, of 409 Scotch Hill Drive, Leeper, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville, where he had resided for two days. Born Nov. 22, 1920, at Scotch Hill, he was the oldest son of the late Harry and Clara (Simpson) Nulph. Mr. Nulph graduated in 1939 from the Farmington Township High School in Leeper. He then attended Clarion State Teachers College, graduating in 1948. He taught school for 30 years, retiring in 1977 from the North Clarion School District. Mr. Nulph was a charter member of the Clarion County Historical Society. He was a lifetime member of the Scotch Hill United Methodist Church, was a Sunday school teacher for years and was church organist for 65 years. He is survived by a sister, Margaret Carll and her husband, Albert, of Oswayo; a brother, Harry Nulph of Scotch Hill; and four nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his father on Oct. 24, 1982; his mother on Sept. 23, 1984; a brother, Leigh Nulph, on Feb. 9, 1984; a sister, Dorothy Urmson on Oct. 8, 2007; and a niece. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Goble Funeral Home & Crematory, 330 Wood St., Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. J. Mark Hurst officiating. Interment will be in Scotch Hill Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Scotch Hill United Methodist Church. The Derrick - Monday, January 7, 2008
