Daughter of Otto and Mathilde Albers Schlake and was baptized at the rural St. Paul's German Church, north of Wisner. There she attended church and taught Sunday School. Doris attended school in Wayne County Country School District 32 and is a 1941 graduate of Wisner High School. On May 11, 1941, she married Alvin Luedtke at St. Paul's German Lutheran Church. The couple farmed until their 1951 divorce. Doris continued to be a stay at home mom and part time bartender, when in the mid-fifties, she purchased and operated the West Point Beauty Salon for the next 27and half years, retiring due to health reasons in 1991. Doris has been in and out of nursing homes for the past 5 years, most recently making her home at Colonial Haven. Survivors include daughters Sandy (Kenny) Stromquist of Oakland, Carol Jindra (fiancé Bob Kasper) of Schuyler, Sue (Jim) Palm of Weston, and Karen Miserez of West Point, sister Irma Milligan of Wisner, 13 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death are a son, Ronnie, in July of 2006, and daughter in law Carole Luedtke, and son in law LeRoy Miserez.
