WISNER — Services for Irma Milligan, 92, of Wisner will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church here with burial in the Wisner Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and continue at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. She died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at the Wisner Care Center. The family suggests that memorials may be directed to the Christ Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the Wisner Care Center Chapel Fund. ——— Irma Meta (Schlake) Milligan was born to Otto and Mathilde (Albers) Schlake on Sept. 17, 1921, on a farm seven miles north and one-half mile east of Wisner in Wayne County. She was baptized on Dec. 11, 1921, by Pastor Pietzko at St. Paul's German Lutheran Church north of Wisner and was confirmed by Pastor Koenig at Christ Lutheran Church, Wisner. Irma attended Wayne County rural School District 32 and graduated from Wisner High School in 1939. She then attended business school in Omaha and worked for Mutual of Omaha in downtown Omaha. On Dec. 14, 1946, she was united in marriage to Harold L. Milligan in Hiawatha, Kan. There were two children born by this union, Barbara Ann and Roy Otto. Irma was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Wisner, and Ladies VFW Auxiliary 5767 of Wisner. Irma was a devoted caregiver to her family, including her husband, parents, children, grandchildren and friends. Irma enjoyed the outdoors and loved fishing, hunting, gardening and mushroom hunting. She also enjoyed sewing, bowling, horse racing, having coffee with friends at "Coffee Klatch" and cooking/baking big meals for her family. She was an avid historian. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara and husband Lary Moeller of Wisner; a son, Roy and wife Deb Milligan of Norfolk; along with four grandchildren and spouses, two stepgrandchildren and spouses, two great-granddaughters and five stepgreat- grandchildren. Irma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold and a sister, Doris Luedtke.
