Franklin Democrat, Friday, January 17, 1908, pg 4 Mrs. Mary Jane Musselman Richardson was born Jan. 2, 1824 and died Jan. 7, 1908. Age eighty-four years and five days. She was the oldest child of Henry and Sarah Musselman. Only two of the family still survive her, a brother and sister, J. K. P. Musselman and Mrs. Matilda Swaim. In the year 1842 she was united in marriage to William Richardson. To this union were born eleven children, four sons and seven daughters. Their sons, Henry, George, Louis and William and daughters, Mrs. Minervia Mitchell, Mrs. Mary Slack and Miss Mahala have preceded her to the land beyond. Mrs. Purnedia Cobb of Indiana Creek, Mrs. Joshua Admire of near Spearsville, Mrs. Matilda Hensley of Franklin and Mrs. Sarah Howard of Kansas still survive. All were present but Mrs. Howard. William Richardson departed this life on Feb. 8. 1886. On last Jan. first she was taken to the home of Mrs. James Hensley a very dear friend of hers, to make a visit, where it seemed almost like home to her whenever she would go. She was a loving mother, grandmother, true sister and faithful friend. Deceased leaves a brother and sister, four children, thirty-two grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and the family has the entire sympathy of her many friends. Funeral services were conducted by Elder J. M. Cross after which she was laid to rest by her son, William. Burial at Mt. Carmel. [Provided by Mark McCrady #47714241 and Cathea Curry #47339429] Contributor: CatheaC (47339429) • [email protected]
