His date of death and burial info from Decatur Co, IA genweb site: Comstock, Edward - died July 12, 1896; 66y. 11m. 28d. (Court House). And from lookup volunteer Clarence Priest, [email protected] , of Decatur Co, IA, who went to the Decatur County Court House , the following: Decatur County, Iowa, Death Records, Book B - Edward Comstock, Single, KY, 66y/11m/28d, died 12 Jul 1896, burial Young Cemetery. From lookup volunteer Clarence Priest, [email protected] , of Decatur Co, IA, the following death notice for Edward in the Decatur County Journal dated July 16, 1896, under "Grand River": "Died at the home of his brother-in-law, Wm. Kirkpatrick, on Friday, July 10th, Omer (sic) Comstock. He had been sick for a short time with a complication of ailments. Deceased was a bachelor and an old settler, having lived here as boy and man since the earliest settlement of the county." Andreas' Illustrated Historical Atlas of the State of Iowa, Andreas Atlas Co., Lakeside Press, which shows ownership: Name - Comstock, E. O.; Residence - Section 35; Business - farmer; Nativity - Knox Co, KY; Came to State - 1857; Post Office Address - Westerville. 1880 CENSUS Edward appears in his mother's household in Decatur Co, IA, age 42, an incorrect age. He dies in 1896.
