Two children: Allen Bush Comstock b.31 Jan 1860 Jane Lydia (Comstock) Hileman b. 23 Jan. 1862 Enlisted in the Union Army on 22 Aug 1862, Co. K, Iowa 39th Inf. Reg. Private Mustered out: 4 Mar 1863 at Corinth, MS (Died of disease - muster out date) Although no official documentation has been located, family lore has indicated he was a doctor who was sent to the front with the Army where he performed amputations and invented a technique still in use today to improve that type of surgery. This idea seems to be bolstered by the following obit posted in the newspaper on behalf of Little Narvesta, George's wife, who passed many years after his death. "Daughter of Josiah and Jane Wheelis. Married Dr. Comstock before the Civil War which took his life, leaving her with two small children, Allen and Jane Comstock. Married Anderson A. Burchett on November 4, 1868. Mother of five Burchett children; Fanny, Will, Anna, Mollie and another. Obit Leon Reporter - copied by Nancee (McMurtrey) Seifert"
