Rosenberg Herald, March 7, 1941: Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Eda were held at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Saturday morning at 9 o'clock. Services were conducted by Rev. Jerome Tydlacka of Rosenberg. Interment took place at the Rosenberg Catholic Cemetery. The Rosenberg Funeral Home had charge of funeral arrangements. The large attendance at the funeral and the huge floral offering attested to the high esteem in which this gentleman was held in this community. Joseph Frank Eda was born January 9, 1873 at Anderson, Texas, son of the late Stephen Eda and Anna Gregory Eda of Lodz, Poland. On October 18, 1894, Joseph Eda was united in marriage to Miss Julia Tafelske of New Waverly. She remained his devoted wife through good times and times not so good. She shared in his happiness and truly in his sorrows, especially in his late illness. Thirteen children blessed this happy union; two children preceded their father into the heavenly kingdom. He had been in ill health five years although no one thought the end was so near. He passed away Friday morning at 3:45 at the age of 68 years, 1 month, 19 days. Deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Julia Eda; eleven children, Mrs. Victoria Poncik, Mrs. Margaret Grudzieski, Mrs. Antonia Bialas, Mrs. Beatrice Dzierzanowski, Miss Lucy Eda, Miss Albina Eda, and John Eda and Stanislaus Eda, all of Rosenberg, Egnac Eda of Houston, Frank Eda and Mrs. Francis Kalinowsky of Hungerford; one adopted daughter, Mrs. Verna Jablowsky of Needville; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Marshall of Rosenberg and Miss Mary Eder of Wallis; two brothers, George of Sugar Land and Micolaf of Wallis.
