'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), September 23, 1937, p. 1, col. 6 Passing of James Houdek, Sr. Loma, Sept. 20 – James Houdek, Sr., 86 years of age and a long-time resident of Butler county, passed away Thursday, Sept. 16, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Vlach, with whom he had made his home for several years. Death was caused by infirmities of old age. Funeral services were held from St. Luke's Catholic church Saturday morning, Rev. Otto Ekhamel officiating. Interment was in the Loma cemetery. '''''''''''' Wahoo Democrat ( Wahoo, Nebr.), September 23, 1937, p. 9, col. 3 Colon News Percy Dockweiler accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. John Houdek drove to Dwight Friday evening where they were called by the death of Mr. Houdek's father, John [sic] Houdek. They all remained overnight and attended the funeral services Saturday morning at 9 o'clock at the Loma Catholic church.
