An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Thursday, December 15, 1988: Alta Sue Tippit, 86, of Ft. Gates died Dec. 11 at her residence. Services were held Dec. 13 at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rex Tilly officiating. Burial was in the Restland Cemetery. Born Jan. 14, 1902 in the Hubbard Community, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Susie Bruton. She was raised and attended school in the Hubbard Community. She married Marvin L. Tippit Jan. 20, 1923. They made their home in the Hubbard Community where they farmed and ranched until 1953 when they moved to The Grove. After his death Sept. 6, 1964, she moved to Ft. Gates. She was also preceded in death by one son, Roy Tippit Aug. 31, 1932. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Flat. Survivors include: three sons, Larry Doyle Tippit of Palestine, Billy Tippit and Ray Tippit, both of Gatesville; two sisters, Mrs. Lula Lynch of Gatesville and Mrs. Emma Hamilton of Copperas Cove; two brothers, Roy Bruton of Flat and Troy Bruton of Mound; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers at the funeral were Larry Tippit, Dale Tippit, Billy Jack Cowart, Daryl Maxwell, Gary Lee, Danny Coleman, Cliff Tippit and Rudy Moore.
