An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Thursday, September 14, 1989: Mrs. Emma P. Hamilton, 93, of Gatesville died Sept 6 at Coryell Memorial Hospital. Services were held Sept 9 at Scott's Funeral Home Chanel with Rev. Rex Tilly officiating. Burial was in the Restland Cemetery. Born Dec. 29, 1895 in Coryell County, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Bruton. She was raised in Flat and attended school in the Hubbard Community. She married Ralph D. Hamilton in 1911. He preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1949 in Gatesville. She and her husband made their home in Flat and Gatesville most of their married life. She was a housewife and a member of the First Baptist Church in Flat. Survivors include: three daughters, Wanda Huckabee of Copperas Cove, Mozell Roden of Grand Prairie and Joy Perryman of Gatesville; one sister, Lula Lynch of Gatesville; two brothers, Roy Bruton of Flat and Troy Bruton of Mound; 5 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers at the funeral were Bob Bruton, Ronnie Bruton, Clarence Bruton, Ray Tippit, Charles C. Bruton and Gene Bruton.
