An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Thursday, 1-21-1988: Mrs. C.A. (Lillie) Patterson, 90, died Jan. 12. Services were held Jan. 16 at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Kemp officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery. Born Jan. 29, 1897, in North Zulch, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Sarah Ayres. She attended school at The Grove. She later returned to North Zulch where she met and married Claude Albert Patterson June 1, 1914. They made their home at North Zulch moving to Coryell County in 1915. Mr. Patterson preceded her in death in 1954. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Flat. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Copeland of Pine Bluff, AR and Mrs. Cleo Tomasich of Victoria; three sons, Clyde Patterson of Alvin, Joyce Patterson of The Grove and Boyce Patterson of Lake Charles, LA; two sisters, Daisey James of Texas City and Arvene Parson of Clayborne; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers at the funeral were Ray Clawson, Blackston Bird, John T. McFarlin, David Treadway, Johnny Whaley and Robert H. Hopson.
