An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Friday, July 7, 1961: Mrs. Jennie Moore, pioneer Central Texan, died Wednesday morning in the local hospital. She was 81, and had made her home east of Gatesville the last 19 years. Funeral services were held at 4:30 p. m. Thursday at Scott's Chapel. Burial was in the Restland Cemetery. Mrs. Moore was born in Hamilton April 4, 1880, the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Bush. She lived in Coryell County most of her life. She was married to Edgar Moore, a farmer, in 1895. He died in 1943. Mrs. Moore was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors are one son, T. J. Moore of Gatesville; seven daughters, Mrs. Lillie Bell Kirk of Pauls Valley, Okla., Mrs. Myrtle Moran of Hamilton, Mrs. Nora Massingill of Westbrook, Mrs. Jewell Thurman of Riverton, Wyo., and Mrs. Zada Thurman, Mrs. Dora Harrington and Mrs. Wilfred Massingill, all of Gatesville; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Newland of Killeen and Mrs. Hattie Kyser of Arlington; 54 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Moore, and a daughter, Mrs. Minnie Thedford.
