Bio

Willie Kriska passed away on June 7, 2009 at IOOF Nursing Home in Ennis. He was 100 years old. He was born on Feb.15,1909 in the Crisp Community in Ennis, TX to John and Mary (Slovak) Kriska in Ennis. Willie married Mary D. Honza on Jan. 3,1933, and was a farmer in the Bardwell area and also a painter and a carpenter. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He is survived by 2 children: daughter, Geraldine Kubin and husband Alvin; son, Eugene Kriska and wife Debbie; daughter-in-law Irene Kriska; 11 grandchildren;16 great grandchildren; and 1 sister-in-law, Rosie Kriska.He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, his wife Mary and a son Billy. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, Jun 10,2009 at St. John Catholic Church in Ennis. Serving as pallbearers was grandsons: Michael Kubin, Tony Kriska, Gary Kriska, Greg Kriska, SSgt. Tommy Kriska; and great grandson, Cory McBurnett. Interment followed at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Ennis,Texas.
