An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Thursday, December 21, 1995: Otis Dale Gilchrest of Waco died Dec. 14 at his residence. He was 64. Graveside services were held Monday at Restland Cemetery in Gatesville with the Rev. Alfred Gould officiating. He was born July 14, 1931, in Coryell County to the late Cleburne and Ozell Gilchrest. He was reared in Coryell County and graduated from Gatesville High School in 1950. He served in the Korean War with the U.S. Air Force. He had resided in Waco since 1963 and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a Baptist. Survivors include three sisters, Mary Jane Higginbotham of Melbourne, Florida, and Betty Sue Holt and Barbara Robertson, both of Gatesville; and one brother, Norman Gilchrest of Hewitt. The family suggests memorials to the Waco Center for Youth.
