Frank L. Newman, 81, 915 South A St., died Tuesday at 12:45 p.m. at Memorial Hospital. He was born April 7, 1888, at Smith Center, Kan., to John A. and Fannie Anderson Newman. He married Beulah Moore on June 7, 1907, in Arkansas City and they moved to Arkansas City in 1917 from Pleasant Hill, Mo. He was employed for the Santa Fe Railroad as a fireman and retired in 1961 as an engineer. His wife died Jan. 4, 1958, and he later married Mrs. Hattie Brownell on June 25, 1959. He was a member of the Central Christian Church, Crescent Lodge 133 A.F. & A.M., Ark Shrine No. 12 of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, B. of L .F . & E., and B.L. o f E. Survivors include his widow of the home, two sons, Forrest of Harrison, Ark., and Wilbur of Texas City, Tex., one step-son, James Brownell of Shawnee, Okla., three daughters, Mrs. W.R. (Lou Belle) Swafford of Dallas, Mrs. Orville (Bernadine) Corlett of 715 N. Second St., and Mrs. Don (Cleo) Kness of 214 W. Linden Ave., one step-daughter, Mrs. D.T. (Betty) Estep of Pomona, Calif., two brothers, George W. of 1005 South C St., and Clyde A. of Nevada, Mo., two sisters, Mrs. Lestia Brandt of Muskogee, Okla., and Mrs. Viola Hayes of Latour, Mo.; 16 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Rindt Memorial Chapel with Rev. Lewis McPherren officiating. Masonic rites will be conferred by Crescent Lodge 133 A .F. & A.M., and burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery The Arkansas City (K an.)
